Dama dam mast qalandar

                             The famous Qawwali song Dama dam mast qalqndar, performed by Nooran sisters of  Jalandar, ( grand daughters of famous Punjabi sufi singer of  1970s- Bibi swarn noora ), sung at International folk festival at  Dhaka in 2016.  Travel with the  audio- visual  (Listen with earphones ), and watch the energy of  Jyoti nooran up through  till the end.

                           Some more  details which can be skipped - This song is written in  13 th century by  Amir khusrow, sufi poet ,  modified by  Bulleh shah in 18 th century,  Punjabi philosopher and poet.  Written in honour of a sufi saint -  Lal Shahbaz Qalandar , called as lal because of his red robe  and also the kids are called as lal in  Punjab and  Rajasthan. (Jhulelal).

                          Language -  southern Punjabi and Syndhi.
                          Kafi -  a form of sufi music in which a phrase or word is repeated again and again to create an emotion.The word kafi is derived from  arabic word kafa. The arabic poetry form is qasidah  (monorhyme ).
