The Computer and the Internet

               The Computer and the Internet are the two without which the world will not move further even one day.  They have gotten into the lives of humankind rightfrom (even before) their birth to (even after) their death. But this writing is not about the technological or functional aspects of the computers or internet but about how I have learnt and been using these two.

            During my schooldays and collegedays we never had a chance to access computer let alone internet. Infact during my early childhood days even for having a radio in the house, a licence is needed. Radio licence.

            Later in my studies I read a sentence stating something similar to this,  that  "There is a machine known as 'computer',  which is used in some of the foreign countries. This machine is doing calculations very fast and keep many informations within. Their usage will be more helpful for mankind in future". Only this much is the computer knowledge or correctly saying knowledge about computer in that period.

            The first acquaintance of mine of a computer program was a video game. A car race played at the house of a friend of my husband, at around the age of twenty eight. Then again played game 'Mario' at the age of thirty four, with a time gap of six years from progressing from one game to another game. At that time I did not know that video game is also a computer software. Recently asked my husband and cleared the doubt.

       We bought a table top computer when I was thirty nine years old. That was the first time I touched a computer and once again excepting few small video games,  ABCD of computer was not known. 

        Then studied the school books of my children and came to know about the basic hardware , namely the monitor, central processing unit, mouse,keyboard etc. When I went for job in Saudi Arabia, I needed to buy a laptop computer at the age of forty two. Then I learnt power point presentation.I presented in symposium about  ' migraine (headache) ' in our ENT hospital in Saudi Arabia. Before that I visited the library and studied about headache in neurology books, since I did not have access to internet ,could not search in google etc. But, it turned out to be good. Before and when presented, I was doubtful that the material was not enough and was not completely satisfied with the details. But, after finishing, many of my colleagues and seniors including the department chief asked for copy of that presentation. It was unbelievable for me. Realised that the presentation was good.  

          Once a colleague told that laptop is of no use if you do not have internet connection. So, I thought about using internet. Till then had a laptop, a mobile phone used only for talking , taking photos and keeping alarm.

       Slowly I had access to network connection, initially with a dongle attached to the laptop and then with smart mobile phones. Started using yahoo,  g mail,  opened account in facebook and   opened a blog, followed by one more blog.

           Now, on opening the network, notifications fall like rain from various whatsapp groups and also from individuals. And from facebook, instagram, sharechat ,messenger this and that. My daughters have installed about fifty four apps in my android mobile phone from pics art to zomato, from you tube to candy crush and I do not use all of them. For writing blog I use exclusively laptop.

            Want to stop the progression with this. Do not want to learn anything more in computers and networking.  Because of my standards and of my past history, this much is satisfying, saturating and more than this appears extravagance to me.  That also means this much of computer and network usage is already consuming so much time, that I do not want my time and my self to be consumed more by these machines and imaginary advancements.

            P S-   Contrary to my thought of limiting applications, started using Amazon apps, paying in google pay, singing in Smule etc. I hope it will not increase anymore.
