               இதில் எழுதியுள்ளவை என்னுடைய எழுத்துக்களே ஆயினும் ,ஏதோ ஒரு இடத்தில் வாசிப்பவர்களைச் சந்திக்கிறேன். அது ஒரு சம்பவமாக இருக்கலாம்  ;  இடமாக இருக்கலாம் ; கருத்தாக இருக்கலாம்; காலமாக ( நேரமாக )இருக்கலாம். உதாரணமாக குன்னூர் சிம்ஸ் பார்க் என்று வாசிக்கும்போது அங்கே சென்ற யாரோ ஒருவருக்கு அந்த இடம் மனக்கண் முன் வரும். ஒரு கப்பல் பயணத்தைப் பற்றிப் படிக்கையில் கப்பல் பயணம் செய்த ஒருவருக்கு அந்தப் பயண அனுபவங்கள் நினைவு வரும். தாஜ்மஹாலை ஆண்பாலாகவோ அன்றிப் பெண்பாலாகவோ கருத இயலாது என்று படிக்கும் போது அந்தக் கருத்து சரியெனவோ அல்லது சரி அல்ல எனவோ படிப்பவருக்குத் தோன்றலாம். 1973- ம் ஆண்டு என்று எழுதியதைப் படிக்கும்போது,  தான் 1973-ல் என்ன செய்து கொண்டிருந்தோம் ; பிறந்தோமா இல்லையா என்று கூட நினைவிற்கு வரலாம். So, ஏதோ ஒரு புள்ளியில் எழுதுபவரும்  வாசிப்பவரும்  meet பண்ணுகிறோம் அல்லவா ? அதனால்தான் இந்தப் புத்தகத்திற்கு  ' ஒரு புள்ளியில்  ' என்று பெயர் சூட்டியுள்ளேன்.            அன்புடன், ...

             Even though the writings of this book are mine, I meet the people who read this book at a point somewhere. That may be a place ; an incident ; an idea  or a time. For example, when I write Sim's Park, it will come to the vision of someone who visited that place. When one reads about the ship journey, the one who has had a ship journey may remember his / her ship journey. When reading that Taj Mahal can not be considered as a male or female, the reader may find this idea is true or not true. When reading about the year 1973, the thought may be as that, that what  the reader was doing in 1973, even whether he / she was born  in that time or not.                                                                                   When we shifted from Wellington to  Coonoor in 1973, went with my mother to have a look beforehand at the house we were supposed to occupy , and that was the 5th house in the first line of Harewood Quarters.  As mentioned previously  ( In the blog series of  Malairaniyin Madiyil ) that was the same line when we shifted from Coonoor to Ooty. We resided in the third house then. So, the aunty (Mone amma ), in the second house would have known me, because I remember  reading comics in her house at that time  for a long time. In their house, in the front veranda, there were many books, mainly Tamil comics, strewn around. For me, it was like a tressure.       ...

                                  நீலகிரியின் ஊருக்கு உள்ளேயான பயணங்களில் முக்கியமாக அமைந்தது நடைப்பயணம்தான்.  ஏற்ற இறக்கங்களில், மலைச் சரிவில், படிக்கட்டுகளில், தேயிலைச் செடிகளுக்குள், புல் தரையில், மண் ரோடுகளில், தார் ரோடுகளில்.......புல் மேடுகளினூடான ஒற்றையடிப் பாதைகளில் , உண்ணிச் செடிகளுக்குள், மரங்களின் அருகில் என நடந்து நடந்து வாழ்ந்தோம்.                                                      அது போல்  train journeys  அநேகமாக நீலகிரிக்குள்ளேதான் ஜாஸ்தி. குன்னூர், வெல்லிங்டன்,அருவங்காடு ,ஊட்டி என.  மேட்டுப் பாளையம்   குன்னூர்  ரயிலிலும் சென்றுள்ளோம். மலைப் பாதைக் குகைகள் வரும் முன்னே வருகின்ற மாறுபட்ட ஒலியும், பின் குகை வரும்போது சற்றே குறையும் ஒளியும் , குகைக்குள் ரயில் பயணிக்கும்போது ஏற்படும் இருட்டும்  இரைச்சலும் மனதிலேயே நிற...

சின்ன வயதிலிருந்தே தாஜ் மஹாலைப் பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்று ஆசை. இந்தியாவில் இருக்கும் one of the seven wonders of the world  என்று படித்திருந்ததாலும்,   class-ல்  history படிக்கும் போதும்.                                      ஒரு முறை என்  கல்லூரித் தோழியிடம் பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்த  நேரத்தில்   honey moon-க்கு Taj Mahal போக விழைவதாகச் சொன்ன போது, அவள் அது ஒரு கல்லறை என்று கூறி  off  செய்து விட்டாள். எனவே, ரொம்ப late ஆகத்தான் செல்வதற்கு  chance கிடைத்தது.                         ஆக்ரா நகருக்குள் செல்லும்போதே எங்காவது தாஜ்மஹால் தென்படுகிறதா என்றுதான் கண்கள் தேடின. ஆனால்,  hotel -க்குச் சென்று check- in செய்யும்   வரை தாஜ்மஹால்  தென்படவில்லை.      அதன் பின்னர் எங்கே இருந்து பார்த்தாலும், (மேல் பகுதி மட்டும்தான் தெரியும்) , கண்ணைக் கவர்ந்து இழுக்கி...

                                                                                                                      நீலகிரிக்கான  பயண அனுபவங்களை எனக்கே தெரியாத காலம் முதல் அதாவது 1958 -ல் என் தந்தையார்  service -ல் சேர்ந்த காலம் முதற்கொண்டு,  2019 மே மாதம் குடும்பத்தாருடன் சென்றதுவரை நினைவு கூற இயலும்.   எவ்வாறு பயணப்பட்டார் என்பதை எங்கள் அப்பா சொன்னதில்லை. ஆனால் என் பாட்டி ,மகனை அவ்வளவு தூரம் (   அந்தக் காலகட்டத்தில் இது ரொம்ப distance -ஆகக் கருதப்பட்டது ) அனுப்ப விருப்பப் படவில்லையாம். பாட்டியின் தங்கைதான் money arrange பண்ணி கொடுத்து அனுப்பி விட்டார் என என் ஒன்றுவிட்ட அத்தை சொன்னார்.  MPSC- Madras Public Service Commission, exam எழுதி  Revenue...

                                     For honeymoon, we decided to go to Lakshadweep Islands.  As the name denotes it is a  collection of  a number of  islands.  We planned to  go to our destination  from Cochin ( Kerala ) , travelled by train and  went to the airport to enquire about the flights to go to Lakshadweep.  (Both railway station and airport are situated in Ernakulam ). But, we were informed that the Islands are restricted for outsiders and we could not go by our own and  they advised us to approach the tourism department, where they arrange package tour to the Islands.    ( Lakshadweep Islands are restricted for overnight stay and anyone visiting the Islands must leave the Islands by around  6pm or so. )               And ,there was a package trip by ship-  the ship was a commerc...
