மலை ராணியின் மடியில் தவழ்ந்த நாட்கள்.   பாகம்- 14.                                இவ்விதமாக எந்த    Pasteur Institute-ல் என் தாயாருக்கு    blood test  பண்ணுவதற்காக என் பெற்றோருடன் சென்றேனோ, அதே Pasteur Institute-  க்கு interview க்காக சென்றேன்.                     Director Dr. Kalyanaraman   என்னுடைய தகப்பனாரின் நண்பர் ஆனதாலும்,நான் local resident  ஆக இருந்ததாலும்,  select ஆகிவிடுவேன் என்ற நம்பிக்கை இருந்தது. ஒரு monsoon காலத்தில்தான் interview.  குளிரும்,லேசான மழையும். ஒரேயொரு postதான்.ஏறக்குறய 25 candidates வந்திருந்தார்கள். Interview அறைக்குள் நுழைந்தபோது, " வாம்மா வா, interview க்கெல்லாம் வந்துட்ட " என்று வரவேற்றார் director.   ஆனாலும், கொஞ்சம் முழித்துக் கொண்டுதான் இருந்தேன்.                                      என் முதல் பெண்ணுக்கு  நிச்சயதார்த்தத்திற்கான நாள் முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டபோது என் இளைய பெண் "அக்காகூட இனிமேல் டூர் போக முடியாதே! எங்காவது போக வேண்டுமே" என்று வருத்தப்பட்டாள். (ஆனால் திருமணத்திற்குப் பின்னரும் பன்னெர்கட்டா நேஷனல் பார்க், safari, பவானி சாகர், பண்டிப்பூர்,  flower show, நீலகிரி என்று போய் வந்தது வேறு விஷயம்! )  எனவே, ஒரு சின்ன டூர் போகலாம் என்று முடிவு செய்தோம். எங்கள் உறவினர்கள் (ஒன்று விட்ட காலாமா -சித்தி குடும்பம்) ஆழியாறில் வசிக்கின்றனர். மேலும் அங்கே  guest house -ல்  room book  பண்ணித்  தருவதாகக் கூறியிருந்தனர்.  ஆகையால் நிச்சயதார்த்தம் முடிந்த அடுத்த நாள் ஆளியாறு செல்வதென முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டது.                                                            ...

Epidemic is an infectious disease, occuring in a community,at a particular time. Endemic is a disease, regularly found in an area. Pandemic is a disease epidemic that spreads worldwide! In the past, in Plague pandemic (bacterial)  about 12 million people lost their lives - from 1896 to 1939. In Influenza or Spanish flu pandemic (viral) about 17 million people lost their lives  in India (1918) . Now Coronavirus Disease, COVID-19 is challenging the world.         When the corona epidemic started in Wuhan, China, it was not expected to become pandemic. But, now the world is panic stricken.       ...

               The Computer and the Internet are the two without which the world will not move further even one day.  They have gotten into the lives of humankind rightfrom (even before) their birth to (even after) their death. But this writing is not about the technological or functional aspects of the computers or internet but about how I have learnt and been using these two.             During my schooldays and collegedays we never had a chance to access computer let alone internet. Infact during my early childhood days even for having a radio in the house, a licence is needed. Radio licence.             Later in my studies I read a sentence stating something similar to this,  that  "There is a machine known as 'computer',  which is used in some of the foreign countries.                                                                       விளையாட்டுச் சாமான்களில் பொம்மைகளுக்கு ஒரு தனி இடம் உண்டு என்றே சொல்ல வேண்டும். எல்லாக் குழந்தைகளுக்கும் பொம்மை பிடிக்கும். நாங்கள் சிறுவயதில் பொம்மை செய்வோம். அப்போதெல்லாம் அதிகமாக பொம்மைகள் கிடைக்காது - அல்லது வாங்க மாட்டோம். கோடை  விடுமுறையில் கிராமத்திலுள்ள பாட்டி வீட்டிற்குச் செல்லும்போது தோழியுடன்   tailor கடைக்குச் சென்று cut பண்ணிய சின்னச் சின்ன மீதித் துணிகளை சேகரித்து வருவோம் (சரியான வெயிலாக இருக்கும்.) பின்னர் அவற்றை உருண்டையாகச் செய்து தலையும், குச்சிகளைக் கொண்டு கை கால்களையும் செய்வோம். மீதி நீண்ட துணிகளைக் கொண்டு புடவை கட்டிய பொம்மை ஆக்குவோம். சமீபத்தில் அந்தத் தோழியை நான் சந்தித்தபோது, நீ என்ன படிச்சிருக்கே என்று கேட்டேன். நான் எங்க ஸ்கூலுக்குப் போனேன் என்று சொன்னாள். மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி Memories                   முதலில் மருத்துவப் படிப்பின் நினைவுகள்                   Exam time -ன் போது விழுந்து விழுந்து, தூக்கம் முழித்து,கஷ்டப்பட்டுப் படித்து 10th முடித்து  மறுபடியும் 12th- ல் exam time-இல் அதே கஷ்டம். முதலிலேயே படித்தால்தானே?  எப்படியோ நல்ல மார்க் வாங்கி -school first (- ஊரில் உள்ள எல்லா schoolலயும் ). Medical course-க்கு Application போட்டாகிவிட்டது.         Interview தான் எங்களுக்கு.  Entrance Exam கிடையாது .(Interview கடைசி  அல்லது அதற்கு முந்திய set என்று நினைவு ). Coimbatore Medical College-ல்  stool-ல் வரிசையாக உட்கார்ந்திருந்த போது  ஒருவித பயமறியாத பயம். தைரியமாகப் பேசினேன். ஆனால், எல்லாக் கேள்விகளுக்கும்  சரியான விடையளிக்கவில்லை.
